Make a Photo Book with Okidoki FREE book offer! |
In a nutshell, Okidoki Photobooks allow you to make a twenty page photo book including covers, straight from your iPhone from probably one of the most user-friendly apps I have ever had the pleasure to use.
Creating the book
My experience from creating, ordering and receiving my books was a pleasure throughout.
I ordered two of these photo books featuring iPhone snaps I took this summer and when the books arrived a week or so later, I was impressed with the print and finish quality of this very excellent professional standard product.

To create my book, I begun by downloading the FREE OKIDOKI app available on itunes. This is a breeze to use. Simply open the app on your iPhone, iPad or iTouch, give it a title, select your images from your iDevice library, add captions and your book is ready to go! Images can be rotated andscaled to your desire.

Once I'd made payment via my credit card, I received a receipt via email and just over a week later, the beautiful little photobooks arrived carefully packaged. Voila!

Darks and Shadows - some advice Just one little word of advice. Be careful to lighten any dark images you have as the dark areas will tend to fill in. Most of my pictures were very bright and colourful, and on overall the print handled the colours beautifully however the front cover would have been much improved if I had lifted the face on the left. Watch your darks & shadows! |

My only niggles with the book were that I would like to have had more control over placement of the images; the layout is fixed so you need to find the right pictures to fit the picture shapes. I would have also liked to have longer titles and captions and finally payment is only via credit card and I generally like to pay by Paypal. The nice people at Okidoki books are well aware of this and are working hard to make these adjustments for future updates.
Other than this, this is a fine product and excellent value for money. I would recommend this great service to anyone wanting to produce a well made, professional product for a friend or just to show off your photography or art and of course these would make superb gifts for friends and family at Christmas.(5 weeks to go)
The price at $14.99 AUD (approx $15.5 USD/£9.80) is really worth the money.

iPhoneographer Lindsey Thompson shares the Moo experience |
Sometimes it helps to "spread the iphoneography love" a little by doing a bit of self-promotion. Lindsey ordered 50 self-promotional cards from the print company Moo.com and shares her experience from ordering, delivery and print quality with iPhoneographyCentral...
Once you're hooked on iPhoneography – (that's creating, editing and usually sharing work on your iPhone) – you'll find yourself in all sorts of of strange and wonderful places. That's why it can be helpful to carry some kind of ID card around that not only acts as an ice-breaking tool when you're out and about, but who knows, you might get some work out of it too!
Moo cards has a lovely, bright, fresh and colourful website that would appeal to many artists and designers. They offer to help you to create great business cards, mini-cards and more. iPhoneographer Lindsey Thompson recently took advantage of an offer by Moo Cards and gives us her feedback:
"Following a referral to the moo.com site by a friend and iPhone photographer, Lea Zimany, I was fortunate enough to get my hands on the '50 free facebook cards' offer.
The site are currently offering this deal to 200,000 Facebook users who have upgraded their profile to the new timeline format.
The order process was very straightforward. There was a lot of pressure on my part to place the order in time before the day's free giveaway offer of 5,000 orders had been exceeded, but with the smooth processing on the site, I was able to place my order quickly.
The delivery was estimated as 18th January, so was prepared to wait patiently considering the order and postage were completely free. To my surprise the order was delivered in just two days instead of the eleven days they estimated.
The cards came well packed and in a handy cardboard carry case. The design I had chosen turned out very nice, the colours seemed slightly more muted than I expected and the card itself was matt finish rather than the usual gloss finish I have been used to on a business card. But still a great result. The quality of the main 'cover picture' was very good, though I personally thought the smaller 'profile picture' had lost some quality during printing.
I was surprised to find they had based the design of these cards on both of the cover pictures I had uploaded to Facebook. I had only selected one image for the cards, but they split the order between this and a black and white image also. It was interesting to see the results on two very different images, and personally thought the black and white result was much better.
The cards have plenty of space for phone numbers, addresses or any other contact information and on the reverse of the card there is an option to add a quote. I personally used this for my personal website address. But in hindsight could have also added more site links in this space.
Overall, easy ordering system, great quality product and very fast service.

Top of the blocks – Image blocks
![]()

Here's a novel and contemporary way to show off your iphone photography and art, ready to hang or stand on your desk, mantle or….anywhere actually!
Based in Melbourne, Australia. ImageBlocks turns your iphoneography images into beautiful timber blocks individually hand-crafted from rescued timber.
The metal surface means that your photo lasts a lifetime..... scratch resistant, waterproof and can be cleaned easily with a cloth. Because the image is printed into aluminium, bright colours and hues are even more rich than seen on paper or canvas.

The block in millimetres is 95 x 95 x 50 (roughly 4 x 4 inch) which is roughly the same size as your average UK bathroom tile. (Now there's another idea). A 14mm holed plate is attached to the back for convenient hanging if you should wish to display the image block on the wall or create a panoramic series or stacking series.
Image blocks sent me one of my images (shown above) printed into the aluminium and I am impressed with the quality of the print, the vibrancy and sharpness of the image.
The contrast of the vibrant, smooth, shiny image works well with the more natural feel and look of the recycled wood. The image – which feels like a tile surface but is far more robust – is glued securely to the block of wood and has a neat finish.
When it comes to displaying ImageBlocks, one of the great aspects is their flexibility; whether they're stacked or hung, ImageBlocks can be rearranged to suit your mood or room.
With Christmas fast approaching these delightful image blocks will make great gifts. Photo finishes come in both matt and glossy for $35 each. For more details on Image Blocks, please visit http://www.imageblocks.com.au/Home/Blocks.html
