Apps Uncovered June 8 2012
Last week, I promised a bumper selection of “Apps Uncovered”. Was I worried that I wouldn’t find enough talent in the Flickr group? – I won’t answer that. Please grab a cup of tea or a glass wine and enjoy this week’s vast gallery of talent.
Some artists contribution have been significant this week and deserve a special mention, notably Bob Weil’s wonderful poetic narrations, engaging titles and generous sharing of his techniques. HeDyna, Carlein and Roger Guetta have all contributed very strong and stirring pieces and a big welcome to newcomer Jun Yamaguchi whose painterly style derived from photographs have totally bowled me over.
Finally Robert Herold’s image is “stand out” when viewed large on black, you can step straight into that cold image –but not so cold when you have a couple in the distance holding it together...I hope you enjoy the gallery as much as I have enjoyed looking at your wonderful work....Thank you.
Title: Wall Flowers
"There are three classes of people: Those who see. Those who see when they are shown. Those who do not see.”
~ Leonardo da Vinci

Title: Vertigo - staring into the abyss
“He who battles monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster himself. When you gaze long into the Abyss, the Abyss also gazes into you." - Frederich Nietzche
Artist: Bob Weil
Device/Apps/Info: Shot and processed on an Iphone, making extensive use of SuperImpose to composite, blend and mask four images to suggest an Escher-like reality. Use some settings in Pixlromatic to set the building on fire, and AntiCrop to give the building a deconstructed/collapsing look. Then used Camera360 to give the result a lomo look, and Camera Awesome to add some textures. Masking is still a bit primitive on the iPhone, and you can't save work in progress. How I wish I could that wish granted - at least save selection areas, and more clearly define feathering! You can see evidence of those challenges along the railing in front of the building.
Title: Le goût d'espace, ou le droit au vagabondage
"Nomad I was already when, as a little girl, I dreamed, watching the road, the alluring white road that left beneath a sun that seemed even brighter, straight toward the captivating unknown. Nomad I will stay all my life, in love with changing horizons." Isabelle Eberhardt, July 1902.
Artist: Bob Weil
Device/Apps/Info: Shot and processed on iPhone using Jazz!, Modern Grunge and photographed textures and of course, very extensive use of Superimpose, both masking and blending.

This work is part of my fascination for street iPhoneography, something I never experienced wen a DSLR user. This particular app Nofinder as bring me the ability to capture fantastic moments, without the agressivity of pointing a camera to some one, and at the same time the joy of seat and check what was result, since as you no there is no viewfinder.
